Baduk

Baduk is the Korean name for the same board game many English speakers call Go and many Chinese speakers call Weiqi. The label changes, but the game does not: same intersections, same black and white stones, same tension around liberties, shape, and capture. If you typed “baduk” and landed here, you are at the right board, not a parallel version of it.

When to use this board

Use this page when you searched “baduk” or “baduk online” and wanted the board game itself, not a language note, or when you need to explain the Korean name to someone who only knows Go.

When not to

You already play and want a tougher AI -> vs computer. You need the beginner walkthrough -> how to play. You meant western chess or Xiangqi -> other domains.

How

1. 01Read the short naming note if you need it: Baduk, Weiqi, Go, and Igo all point to the same game family here.
2. 02Tap an empty intersection on the board above and play as you normally would. The name door is different; the board is not.
3. 03If you want a longer session after that, head home or open vs computer and choose a difficulty.

Gotchas

• Baduk is not a separate ruleset on this site. It is the same game, using the same engine and the same board.
• Some baduk search results are just app listings. This page runs directly in the browser.
• Xiangqi, Chinese checkers, and other board games are entirely different things, even if search results throw them into the same pile.
